The New Albany/Plain Township Historical Society plans a future fundraiser for the Mike Butsko Vietnam Gold Star Memorial.
On 10 September 1967 Navy Hospital Corpsman Michel Butsko became New Albany’s only Vietnam war casualty. On that day, Eleanor Butsko became a Gold Star Mother. She hung a Gold Star Flag on the half-glass front door of their home. The flag stayed on the door many years until the home was torn down for the Rocky Fork Metro Park.
